There’s so many ways to describe J Dilla and still none in the dictionary would give him justice. VLooper decided to describe the genius in his own way by creating his own Dilla tribute and thus continuing to blossom what Dilla birthed. Enjoy … and let it marinate…
I peeped this solitary sis amongst a room full of extraordinary gentlemen in the Satorial Sounds vid and I wondered, who is SHE? Her name is Maya Hruby, a West Coast gyal who recently did “Lose Myself” over a J Dilla/Roots version of Stereolab’s “Come Play In The Milky Night”. I’m all about vibes, if you’ve ever dropped in on one of my dj sets you’ll recognize all the head nodding tracks I play cuz it’s “pure vibes me a deal wit”. With that being said, check this sis out, she’s dope. I’m excited to see what more she brings to the table. Shout out to Jesse Boykins III, who directed this video. Big tings a gwan in music. We NEED this.
Today is the official bornday of one of hip hop’s most exalted producers, J Dilla, from the legendary crew Slum Village. Not only was Dilla an exceptional producer making the best headnodding beats but he was also at times an MC. The JDilla Project, released today a video of friends and peers reminiscing on his legacy, some never seen before footage and a personal message from “Ma Dukes”, Dilla’s mother. Enjoy!
This episode features Q-Tip and Peanut Butter Wolf as they discuss the Beastie Boys, Biz Markie and J Dilla. Skillz I’ve been waiting for this. You got me hooked on these videos. The track on the outro is fiyah!!!
