Geisha ♥’s Finds: Beat Makers (the documentary)

In the spirit of the latest Lotus Lab edition of Mad Notes and with the recent 1 year anniversary of the passing of respected producer, Nujabes, I came across this documentary on up and coming music producers/beat makers. If you are interested in becoming a producer, this is a good film to check out.  Some of these producers really drop jewels….

More about the film:

“…BEAT MAKERS, a 90 minute independent documentary, charts the never ending hustle of up and coming as well as seasoned producers. Filmed inside their in-home studios, these hungry musicians aspire to obtain more equipment, sell their hot tracks, and, of course, make a name for themselves in the competitive music industry.

The movie follows a plethora of track masters in various stages of their careers including newcomer Justin “J Dot” Moyd, a 23 year college student who nears graduation, as he assembles his production center, works with aspiring recording artists and puts together his first professional demo package. We also see a group of savvy producers combine their collective efforts called ‘Battery Five’ discuss their trials and tribulations and their relentless pursuit to create a “movement” and be recognized in such a tumultuous business.

The film provides a behind the scenes forum for composers to get a lot off their chests and discuss their unbridled passion for making music all with a steadfast belief that the ‘next’ track will be the one to take them to the ‘next’ level!”

Geisha ♥’s Finds: Men’s Fashion Pt. 2

As many of us probably have, I’ve grown tired with young men’s fashion, especially along the lines of what hip hop fashion is stereotypically supposed to look like, unkept prison gear homages and lack of taste.  In search of some inspiration of how I would love for my future husband to dress I came across this exquisite blog of men’s fashion along the lines of what I was seeking. Street Etiquette is created by twenty somethings, Joshua Kissi and Travis Gumb.  Their blog consists of a crisp layout, beautiful pictures and a breakdown of each model’s attire.  Take a trip on over there and tell them Dutty Geisha sent you. 😉

Also included is my slideshow of things I find in men’s fashion that’s simply delish.  Enjoy
