The plight of Canadian artists is exposure; such a small audience for such big talents.

The plight of talented artists across the globe is the same – getting overshadowed by mainstream staples instead of the masses recognizing true artistry.  I am a victim of this on a daily basis because I refuse to play tons of Top 40 in my set.  What makes me different from the majority of NY deejays is that I play music of all genres that expresses musical artistry instead of rehashing what plays every hour on Hot 97.

Canadian artists have a unique plight.  Their hip-hop community is primarily in Toronto and with such a small listening audience and not having US fame, they are all fighting for some kind of shine.  Very few Canadian artists have been lucky enough to get US fame, K-OS, Kardinal OffishallMelanie Fiona and more notably Drake are some of the chosen few.

Below is a look into the Canadian hip hop scene.  First MC up to bat is one of my current favorites, KJ. No need to go into a long explaination just peep the video:

This is a video is a brief documentary on the plight of the Toronto rap scene.

Here is a video from Blu Room Raps.  I can’t seem to find too many of these videos but this is featuring Canadian rappers, Marvel, Bunitall (aka Wizedome and my crazy cousin) and Savage.  This is a cool concept.  It would be great for them to expound on this. Enjoy!
